Radar Observer Unlimited 5-day Course (ColPac 399)

    This five-day course will satisfy the training and assessment
    requirements for an original endorsement as Radar Observer Unlimited.

    Subjects include Radar Theory and Operation, Radar Navigation and
    Rapid Radar Plotting.

    There are no class prerequisites.

USCG approval

    Any applicant who has successfully completed your Radar Observer
    (Unlimited) (COLPAC 399) course, including successful demonstration
    of all practical assessments, will satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR
    11.480 (d) for an endorsement as Radar Observer (Unlimited) and the
    training requirements of SectionA-II/1 and Table A-II/1 of the STCW
    Code for certification as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on
    vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage (ITC). The practical assessments
    conducted in this course will be accepted as the equivalent of the
    following assessments from the National Assessment Guidelines for
    Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code: OCINW-3-1A; OCINW-3-1B; OCINW-3-
    1C; OCINW-3-1D; OCINW-3-1E; OCINW-3-1F; OCINW-3-1G; OCINW-3-
    1H; OCINW-3-1I; OCINW-3-1J; OCINW-3-1K and OCINW-3-1L. Any
    approved instructor for this course is authorized to sign off for
    successful demonstration on the students' "Control Sheets". Applicants
    who have successfully completed your course need not present
    completed "Control Sheets" for these assessments in application for
    STCW certification.

    This course is taught from 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday in a self-
    study format and scheduled one student at a time as classroom space is

How to Schedule A Class

    Call Pat at (503) 841-6066 to schedule a class.Most classes require a
    $100 non-refundable scheduling fee that is deducted from the price of
    the class. This fee can be paid over the phone by credit card, by check
    or in cash if you wish to stop by the school. Always call first before
    stopping by the school.

Class Enrollment

    On the first day of the class you will be required to provide a
    government issued photo ID and full payment for the class. Acceptable
    methods of payment are cash, check or credit card (MasterCard or Visa).
