OUPV / Master Limited Scope Waters Portland MSO
Cost $300 / Time 16 hours (2-days)
Any applicant who has successfully completed your 16 hour OUPV/Master Limited Scope Waters course and who
presents your Certificate of Training at the Regional Exam Center Sector Portland, Oregon within one year of the
completion of training will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 10.205(i) for original issuance, 46 CFR
10.209(c)(iii) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.209(f) for reissuance of a license as Limited Master or Limited OUPV upon
the following Limited Scope route description: “Upon all navigable, inland waters of the Marine Safety Office Sector
Portland, Oregon zone of responsibility except the Columbia River, the Willamette River downriver of the Oregon
City Locks, and the Snake River downriver of Lower Granite Dam, Washington.
A completion certificate from your 24 hours Rules of the Road course used in conjunction with your 16 hour
OUPV/Master Limited Scope Waters course by an applicant will remove the Columbia River, Willamette River, and
Snake River restrictions. Applicants presenting proof of completion of both of these courses will receive the
following Limited Scope route description: “Upon all navigable, inland waters of the Marine Safety Office sector
Portland, Oregon zone of responsibility.
Subjects include general navigation, seamanship, safety and the federal regulations governing small passenger
vessels.
This course is scheduled Sunday through Monday twice a month as indicated in the following schedule and may
be scheduled to follow the Rules of the Road course if necessary.
