Master 100 ton or less Course (ColPac 281)

    This course will satisfy the exam requirements for Master or Mate 25, 50
    or 100 tons with either an inland or near coastal route.

    Subjects include navigation, seamanship, Rules of the Road, Safety and
    Small Passenger Vessel Regulations.

    There is no prerequisites class.

USCG approval

    Any applicant who has successfully completed your Master 100 Tons
    (COLPAC-281) course and presents your Certificate of Training within
    one year of the completion of training, will satisfy the examination
    requirements of 46 CFR 11.205(f) for original issuance, 46 CFR 10.227
    (d)(8)(i)(B) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.227(g) for reissuance, of a
    merchant mariner endorsement as Master or Mate of not more than 100
    gross tons Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland
    Waters, OR, Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Upon
    Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters. The course
    completion certificate issued upon successful completion of this course
    is valid for one application which results in the issuance of an
    endorsement(s) and may not be used for future application transactions.

Upgrade courses that can be scheduled to follow this class

    Upgrade Master 100 to 200 ton class will increase the authority of
    the license to include Master or Mate 150 or 200 tons.


    Apprentice Mate (steersman) Upgrade class will increase the
    authority of the license to include Apprentice Mate (steersman) of
    Towing Vessels.

How to Schedule A Class

    Call Pat at (503) 841-6066 to schedule a class.Most classes require a
    $100 non-refundable scheduling fee that is deducted from the price of
    the class. This fee can be paid over the phone by credit card, by check
    or in cash if you wish to stop by the school. Always call first before
    stopping by the school.

Class Enrollment

    On the first day of the class you will be required to provide a
    government issued photo ID and full payment for the class. Acceptable
    methods of payment are cash, check or credit card (MasterCard or Visa).
